Our Ethos
A chamber orchestra for the 21st century...

Having been set back by the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, with no live music making, we decided that Manchester was in dire need of a new, vibrant orchestra. We are bridging the gap between a chamber collective and a full symphony orchestra. Our performances are captivating and energising. Our ethos is also based on supporting and promoting young players embarking on taking their careers to new heights. We are committed to reflecting the society and world we live in and therefore are open to all composers, artists and genres. Our projects are based on themes and showcasing all elements of classical music.

Classical music is powerful. The Carme Ensemble is a versatile project-based orchestra demonstrating a unique approach to orchestral music. The tenacity of our music making relies in our players, of whom we are extremely grateful for.
Our Players
We are fortunate to have some of the finest young professional musicians playing in the orchestra. The majority of our players are students and graduates from world-class conservatoires and universities, with orchestral playing being their focal passion.

In the 2021/22 season we are collaborating with many artists including: The Levaré Quartet, The Elmore Quartet, Lili Holland-Fricke, Xander Croft and more.
